Are short-form videos worth it for a local business?

Updated 14 October 2026

They can be, if you post consistently and the videos show something real about your business. Short videos are how many people now discover and size up a local business before they call. They are not a quick fix: one video rarely changes much, and results build over months, not days.

What short videos actually do

A short video lets someone see your work, your space and the people behind the business in under a minute. For a barber that's a fade being finished; for a builder it's a job before and after; for a clinic it's who they'll meet at the front desk.

That does two jobs. It puts you in front of people who didn't know you existed, and it gives people who already found you a reason to trust you over the next option.

What they won't do

They won't fix a business people can't find. If someone sees your video and searches your name, they need to find a Google profile and a website that back it up.

They also won't work if they stop. Platforms reward accounts that post regularly. A burst of five videos and then silence for two months usually goes nowhere.

How to tell if they're working

Don't judge by views alone. Watch for the things that bring in money: profile visits, website clicks, messages, calls, and customers who say "I saw your video". Give it at least a few months of steady posting before you decide.

If you don't have time to make them

Most owners don't. Spottable makes short videos for you, edited and captioned, and hands them over ready to post: 4 a month for $400 a month, or 8 a month for $700 a month, month to month.
